How to reach Berat

Berat is one of the oldest cities in Albania, located in the southwest of Albania, next to the Osum River. The distance between the capital city and Berat is 101 km. You can get from Tirana to Berat by a rental car, bus or taxi. Berat is accessible by air with Tirana international airport, 112 kilometers away. The drive from Tirana to Berat takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including transfers, or a little longer if there’s traffic.

Getting to Berat by air

The distance between the capital city and Berat is 101 km. You can get from Tirana to Berat by a rental car, bus or taxi. Berat is accessible by air with Tirana international airport, 115 kilometers away.

Getting to Berat by road

Getting from Tirana to Berat by bus is affordable and easy. According to the timetable at the station, buses leave every hour from Tirana’s South Albania Regional Bus Terminal and the fare is 500 lek per person for a single journey. The bus terminates at the Berat Bus Terminal located 3 km north of the Old Town. Buses from Tirana to Berat depart between 5:40 am and 17:30 while the last bus leaving back to Tirana from Berat bus station is at 4 pm. A road trip by car should take about 90 minutes and a taxi costs around 80 €. There are 2 buses a day to Berat from Saranda at 8am and 2:00pm from the main bus stop (5-6 hours, 1400 lek). From Tirana's city center you must follow the motorway to Durrës. Then from Durrës, you must follow the motorway to Berat. The latter passes by Kavajë city and Lushnje city along the way before ending in Berat.
